EastEnders Star Rita Simons Unveils New Look As She Finally Opens Up About The New Role In Hollyoaks

It has been quite a while since EastEnders fan saw the BBC Soap legend, Rita Simons, on their TV screens. The phenomenal actress played the character of Roxy Mitchell for a decade between 2007 and 2017. Then, she did return for a short cameo, when her on-screen daughter, Amy Mitchell, concocted a vision of her in her imagination. Roxy never appeared on the soap after that. But, if you have been missing the talented star, here is some good news for you!

EastEnders alum, Rita Simons, has confirmed that she is joining the cast of Hollyoaks. A rival soap that airs on Channel 4. Moreover, the word on the block is that this is neither a cameo or a short stint, but a full-time role! While not much is known about the character Rita will be playing. She did share the first look of her character alongside the announcement. “I’m coming to the oaks,” the 47-year-old star announced on her Instagram account. Furthermore, she gave out a fair warning stating that her character will be creating “trouble.”

Rita asked her fans and followers to guess who she will be playing on Hollyoaks. She also assured the fans that she believes they will love her character. Ahead of her post, the EastEnders alum gave a shutout to her “incredible agents @melanieblakeuk.” Furthermore, she also extended one to the” gorgeous #Amanda at #AmandaBeckmanAssociates and the lovely @peterhuntcasting .” Rita concluded her post by teasing that she is really looking forward to come and “play in the pooool!”

Additionally, The former EastEnders star also made a similar announcement on Twitter. “Can’t tell you who I’m playing but I can tell you she’s gonna be trouble!” she wrote. Hmm, going by the number of times Rita has used the word “trouble”, it would be best for Hollyoaks characters to start watching their backs! The news has been very well received by her fans and they are supremely excited! While most of them congratulated her, and expressed their excitement for seeing her on the Channel 4 soap. Others put forth their desire to see her as Roxy on EastEnders again. Well, maybe she will do a short stint again on her former soap again someday!
