EastEnders Star Bags A New Role

It has been seventeen long years since we last saw Nigel Harman as Dennis Rickman on EastEnders. But it still feels like yesterday when Dennis breathtakingly died in his wife’s arms. Nigel portrayed the character of bad boy Dennis between 2003 and 2005. His most notable storyline was when he married his adopted sister, Sharon. In December 2005, Dennis was stabbed to death on the street on New Year’s Day. That marked the end of Nigel’s run on the BBC One soap.

17 years after his first BBC stint, Nigel is creating waves in the news circuit with his latest hot project. The EastEnders alum has bagged a place in the BBC dance show, Strictly! The reality show will return for its newest season this autumn. A source has disclosed to the media that Nigel is amongst the first participants to confirm their place on the show. Moreover, the fact that the handsome star turns 50 soon will add another layer of excitement as it goes on to bring more variety to the line-up!

EE/ Nigel Herman as Dennis

While EastEnders was definitely Nigel Herman’s first claim to fame, it certainly wasn’t his last. After exiting the BBC soap, Nigel went on to be a part of many other successful projects. Some of them were Hotel Babylon and Sky One’s Mount Pleasant, where he played the role of Bradley Dawson. Nigel also garnered a lot of appreciation for his role as the wicked valet, Mr. Green, in the period drama Downton Abbey. Currently, the EastEnders alum is playing Doctor Max Christie on the BBC soap, Casualty.

We, for one are thoroughly excited to see Nigel on the dance show! It would be such a stark change from what we have seen him do on TV until now. The EastEnders star hardly has any experience with dancing on screen. Thus, it will be a new challenge for him too! And that just makes the pot all the more sweeter! Are you excited to watch him waltz on the stage of Strictly? Tell us in the comments. Meanwhile, stay tuned to TV Seasons & Spoilers for more such updates on your favorite stars and soaps!
