EastEnders spoilers reveal that star Anna Karen left a hefty amount of her fortune for a fellow BBC soap actor. Legend Anna Karen portrayed the character of Aunt Sal on the London-based soap. It was recently revealed that Anna’s Sal Martin had left the three Mitchell siblings a fortune. Like her character, Anna left a huge chunk of money for her pal, Sophie Lawrence. EastEnders Spoilers: Anna Leaves a Fortune for Her Pal
On 22 February 2022, a fire broke out at Anna’s Ilford home, and the London Fire Brigade was summoned. The firefighters contained the blaze in less than an hour, but Anna was pronounced dead at the scene. The actress was 85 at the time. Police later concluded that the fire started after Karen dozed off with a lit cigarette. Her fans were in awe when they discovered what Anna had done for her friend before leaving.
As per reports, Anna bequeathed a colossal sum to her EastEnders colleague and pal, Sophie Lawrence. Sophie portrayed the character of Diane Butcher from 1988 to 1991. She received a substantial 65% of Anna’s total estate. They shared a close bond and even toured together during their time on Bazaar & Rummage.
Anna’s Journey on the Soap as Aunt Sal
The BBC soap has recently seen the Mitchells receiving the tragic news of the passing of Karen’s Aunt Sal. The entire Mitchell family gathered for her funeral, and Sam Mitchell organised the ceremony. The Mitchells were joined by Sal’s husband, Harold Martin, to pay tribute to the Walford legend.

She featured in 54 episodes until her last appearance at Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell’s funeral in 2017. Sal was known for attending important family occasions, especially Peggy Mitchell’s farewell episodes.
