EastEnders: The MP Blames Soap Runners for the False Portrayal!
Netizens shared their perspective, expressing they couldn’t relate to the portrayal of the English city on EastEnders. A user called it “ridiculous” because Milton Keynes has the most amazing infrastructure and facilities. Moreover, Ben Everitt, MP for Milton Keynes North, expressed dissatisfaction with the portrayal.
Ben announced that he would contact the EastEnders producers to suggest showcasing more positive aspects of Milton Keynes. He added, “I am quite positive about Milton Keynes, and I want them to show the good side as well.” This is because every city has its own share of bad aspects. Lastly, the MP stated that “the characterisation is completely out of order.”
The controversy arose as Milton Keynes claimed the prize for being the UK’s most underrated city. The city is primarily known as a new town which hasn’t garnered much affection, even from locals. Additionally, a local resident labelled the city as “a dismal London commuter belt town” in his review. The second label was like “a symphony in the superficial and a concerto of concrete.” Did EastEnders actually show the city in bad light?
Plus, comedian Bill Bailey even mocked Keynes in his stand-up show, calling it “Satan’s layby.” Back to EastEnders, the BBC One soap filmed a very intense sequence on Keynes soil. It showed Whitney getting hit by a car while chasing after distressed Britney. So, folks, where do you stand in this ongoing debate? Drop your thoughts below.
