BBC One’s EastEnders loves putting forth cause based storylines to offer its audiences food for thought. It seems like their penchant for raising awareness is also rubbing off on their cast and crew. Recently, EastEnders legend, Melissa Suffield, took to her social media to spread some body positivity by embracing her mom-bod. Melissa posted a string of pictures. These pictures highlighted parts of her body that do not necessarily conform to the traditional standards of beauty.
The EastEnders star who plays Lucy on the BBC soap admitted that she “hated every inch of it” at one point of time. Furthermore, she added that she used to feel that having a baby has ruined her figure. However, it seems like she has had an awakening of sorts and had now embraced her body just as is it is, in all its beauty and flaws. Melissa posted a long post admitting her honest confession along side a picture showing off her side profile. Her fans and followers were so moved by her words and emotions that they applauded and raved her in abundance.
Melissa posted a picture of herself clad in black lingerie showing off her tummy and thighs in all their glory. The 30-year old mommy wrote that it used to be difficult to look in the mirror and see a soft, saggy stranger staring back. The EastEnders actress admitted that she used to feel consumed by the thoughts of wanting to once again become the person she used to be. However, all her curves, creases and marks have a story to tell. And perhaps it is a story that Melissa has fallen in love with.
“Bodies change. My body has changed, and it will change again too. So will yours,” Melissa reminds her followers. Furthermore, she rightly points that our bodies and every other part of us changes as time passes. And if we remain in love with only one version of ourselves, we will spend a whole lot of time being miserable. She signed off by asking her fellows if they too struggles with their new bodies. We have to admit that she has surely touched a topic that many of us struggle with on a daily basis. Maybe her words will reach the people who really needed this positive reminder today!
