2023 truly has been a year full of shockers on EastEnders. From shock returns to shock revelations to shock affairs. Oh, and let’s not forget Albie’s shock kidnapping by his own father – Keanu Taylor. But just as the year is coming to a close, is there still enough room for a couple more shockers? Apparently, yes! The latest spoilers for the BBC One soap reveal that Linda receives a text message from her husband Mick Carter!
The same Mick Carter who was presumed dead exactly a year ago on EastEnders. Ardent viewers will remember that during Christmas 2022, Mick and Linda met with an accident that catapulted them into the sea. While Linda managed to swim to the shore and survive, Mick met a heroic end by drowning while trying to save his beloved. But did he really meet his end? One can never be too sure on EastEnders.
In fact, the makers left the door wide open for his return and a lot to imagination by showing that his body was never actually found. So while, Walford residents did presume Mick dead on EastEnders. There really is a possibility that he might still very much be alive. So what’s really the truth here? The popular BBC One aired a shock twist in the December 21, 2023, episode, with Linda receiving a text from Mick.
Linda was shell shocked when she read the words “L, I can’t talk but I need to see you. I’m sorry I couldn’t do this till now. I’ll explain everything. Mick x” on her phone on EastEnders. While a follow up episode is yet to air to bring clarity on what is the real story behind the text. Actress Kellie Bright (Linda Carter) has already hinted during a media interaction that the text could be a sham. Interestingly, actor Danny Dyer too has told the media on several occasions that he isn’t in any mood of returning to the soap any time soon.
So unless EastEnders is planning on recasting Mick Carter, the text really could be a bait. But from whom and why? Our top pick obviously would be Mick’s brother and Linda’s rapist – Dean Wick.
