EastEnders viewers can’t help but irk at the constant breaks of some cornerstone characters! They question whether the soap is running into money troubles that they can’t keep all the big names around at once. They rumbled a pattern in the characters who take time away from the show, and it kind of looks legit. Keep scrolling to learn more about what these fans have noticed!
EastEnders: Break Season for Major Stars is Evident!
The eagle-eyed fans pointed out that many of the show’s biggest characters have vanished in a snap from EastEnders! First, Sharon Watts jetted off to Australia as she couldn’t cope with the Christmas killing. Moreover, she took baby Albie with her and remained off-screen ever since.
Next, we saw Martin Fowler joining Sharon and sister Michelle in the sunburnt country. Then, a few other characters jumping out of the door. Additionally, Kim Fox also went MIA because actress Tameka Empson was busy with her stage play. More EastEnders characters include Alfie Moon and Cindy Beale. What is up with them really?
Fans Call Out this Trend
A user commented on this constant cast shake-up, “Is there a Budget problem at EE?” They suggested that this hiatus spree is occurring ahead of the milestone anniversary of EastEnders. Another fan chimed in, “It’s glaringly obvious.”
Furthermore, some other fans pointed out that the batch of stars appeared off due to pantomime. They believed that the stars must have been taking part in it during the Christmas month. Moreover, the BBC One soap shot the scenes being broadcast before last year’s end.
Fans explained that the stage play allowed actors to earn big money they don’t get from soaps. One individual revealed this trend of the cast members going on a break. Especially the ones heavily involved with the Christmas saga on EastEnders. They speculated that the breaks were tiring with the actors doing panto.
In addition, they joked about Sharon vanishing around XMas. And how Phil would get arrested or do a runner around his birthday in mid-January. However, another fan dismissed it, saying, “I’ve never noticed it before. It’s an unusual amount of people taking breaks.” The third buff agreed and suggested putting a hard limit on taking these “panto breaks” together.
Uff so many rants from these fans! Finally, a sensible fan emerged out of the blue to defend their beloved EastEnders characters. They replied, “The cast are allowed time off just like in ANY other job.” They elaborated that panto usually coincided with the Christmas season, so the breaks happened at the same time. That makes sense, right?
