Fans Want Ronnie Mitchell Back!
On New Year’s Day in 2017, Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) and her sister Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simmons) met a watery end in a swimming pool on EastEnders. The sisters died on the same day Ronnie tied the knot with Jack Branning. Ronnie plunged into the pool when Roxy found herself in trouble. However, the weight of Ronnie’s gown pulled her down, leading the sisters to be found lifeless in the water.
EastEnders viewers were shocked and devastated as the Mitchell family bid farewell to two of its legendary family members. Nevertheless, it’s been over six years and surprisingly, fans are still not over it! One fan took to social media, saying, “Seeing Ronnie Mitchell all over my timeline now I’m depressed.”
Furthermore, they added “My girl absolutely loved her and will never get over them killing her off.” Another individual said that they’re still hopeful of the return of the Mitchell sisters. The same user also asked that if Cindy’s resurrection is possible, then why not Ronnie and Roxy’s? Lastly, a third contributor added that they still wish for Ronnie and Roxie Mitchell to return even after seven years.
Ronnie’s Past Unveiled on EastEnders
The Mitchell sisters first arrived on Albert Square in 2007. They decided to permanently move to Walford from Ibiza, where they used to run a bar together. Ronnie and Roxy were the cousins of Phil, Grant and Sam. Ronnie is described as the “ice” to Roxy’s “fire.” The duo served as temporary barmaids in the Vic. The pair had been a part of multiple stormy storylines. These included affairs, child abuse, mental illness, and baby swapping.
Ronnie was married a total of three times, twice to Jack Branning and once to Charlie Cotton on EastEnders. Ronnie swiftly emerged as a prominent character expanding the Mitchell family dynamic. Eventually, Ronnie took control of the Walford nightclub with her boyfriend Jack. Why did both the actresses leave at the same time? The former EE executive, Sean O’Connor, explained that their characters had reached a point of exhaustion and hence had to be written out.
Additionally, it is believed that both the actresses wanted to pursue other projects. Samantha was the first one to quit, while Rita left a few days later. Their shocking endings certainly left the viewers teary-eyed, but what will happen if they come back from the dead? Will the viewers love the sisters back in the town? Please tell us what you think.
