EastEnders has always been on the forefront when it comes to talking about the things that truly matter. Ever so often, the soap has centered many of its storylines around social topics or hard hitting topics that have gone on to become food for though for the viewers. Even recently, in one of the soaps most emotional stories, we saw Lola Pearce bravely facing a terminal illness, and eventually passing away. The characters, as well as, viewers are still feeling the effects of it.
Apart from that, EastEnders has also focused on stories honoring survivors of rape, mental health issues, and other forms of abuse. Now, the soap and the cast have associated themselves with a very moving cause. EastEnders and DIY SOS are coming together for a community mental health project. The BBC One soap will even feature a special episode for it. Meanwhile the cast members will aid in their help for the completion of a building for The Butterfly Effect Wellbeing Project.
The Butterfly Effect project was initially set-up by Angela Hannibal after she lost her mother to suicide. She then decided to quit her pharmacist career. And dedicated her life towards helping people going through the same things as her. The wonderful project has now won even more attention with EastEnders joining forces with it. Until now, the Butterfly Effect Wellbeing was operating out of a portacabin . However, the City Council has now allotted it a run down building.
Thus, they need all the help that they can to repair it to become their new home. Now, many EastEnders cast member are joining forces with DIY-SOS volunteer team to help shape up the building. Once up and running, it will be a safe haven for anyone and everyone looking for help . Especially with mental health and intrusive thoughts. The project already has several initiatives running. But a new building will boost its reach as well as it’s ability to help to a much greater length.
The project is also calling out to any and all individuals interested in volunteering their help. The build itself will take place between Wednesday, October 25, 2023 to Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Later this year, EastEnders will air the special episode that they are recording with DIY-SOS. So stay tuned to TV Season & Spoilers for more EastEnders updates about it.
