Actress Danielle Harold’s run as Lola Pearce has come to an end on EastEnders, but the impact that the character made is still creating waves. In May, 2023, Lola met a heartbreaking end after she lost her battle with brain tumor. She passed away wrapped in the affections of her loved ones, but has a left a gaping hole in their hearts. Her departing scenes were certainly a heart-wrenching watch on EastEnders.
In a recent interview, Danielle opened up about how difficult it was to film for the EastEnders episode where Lola passes away. She admitted that it was the most difficult script she has ever read. Moreover, the actress confessed that those scenes were “definitely the most difficult thing” she has ever filmed in her life. But it looks like all her hard work has been well received! In the recently held, TRIC Awards, Danielle won the Best Soap Actor Award.
Some other stars who were nominated in the category alongside her were, Charlotte Jordan, Jeff Hordley, and Ryan Prescott. While Danielle won the award for her performance as Lola Pearce on EastEnders. The award for the Best Soap went to Emmerdale. That too, for the second time in a row! But that still doesn’t takeaway even an inch of the love EastEnders has received over the years for the many heart touching storylines it has shown.
Lola’s Passing Was A Powerful Story On EastEnders
EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw also shed some light on the same, recently. Chris pointed that he is aware that everytime the soap handles a awareness storyline, the impact can be huge. Thus, they handled Lola’s brain tumor storyline with a lot of diligence and care. Chris asserted that it was a very powerful story, and it is important to tell such stories.
On Tuesday, June 27,2023, Walford said it’s final goodbyes to Lola Pearce on EastEnders. It was a beautiful episode that depicted Lola’s funeral. Her family, friends and all her loved ones gathered together to celebrate her life. When Lola’s hearse made its way through the market decorated with flowers and colourful messages, the locals gave it a heart-warming applause. Lola will go on to stay alive in the hearts of all her loved ones, as well as the viewers. However, it is yet to be seen how Jay and Lexi come to terms with life without her on EastEnders.
