EastEnders legend Charlie Brooks, AKA Janine Butcher, is shaking things up by swapping Albert Square for the stage! The EE actress joins Emmerdale star Liam Fox on a UK tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Charlie is taking on a new role after sporadically hitting our screens from 1999 to 2022.
Her last stint on the BBC One soap had her squaring off with Linda and Mick Carter. The showdown left Mick missing at sea and presumed dead. So, what’s next for Charlie on Emmerdale?
EastEnders: Charlie Swaps the Square for the Stage!
EastEnders fans remember Janine returning to the Vic to pin the blame on Linda for the ordeal. She even tried to kick Linda and her mother-in-law Shirley out of the pub, prompting Shirley to strangle herself. However, Janine’s actions petrified her brother Ricky, who called the police, landing her a five-year prison sentence after she pleaded guilty.
Surprisingly, EastEnders later reveals that Janine had given birth to Mick’s son behind bars. And just like that, her time in Walford is up for now. Anyway, Charlie is all set to play a sinister yet thrilling role on the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tour. She’ll portray Child Catcher in the Musical, which will grace thirteen UK venues.
The Musical is based on the 1968 movie starring Dick Van Dyke and promises a gripping ride. The EastEnders actress will star alongside Emmerdale fame Liam Fox, who will play Grandpa Potts. Liam left the ITV soap last year, and his character was locked up for eight years. He’s very excited about the upcoming venture and confessed to crashing with former co-star Bhaskar Patel during his London stint.
Fox broke the news on Instagram, “First day of rehearsals for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Tour tomorrow,” He added, “Being looked after in London for the duration by my mucka Bhaskar Patel.” Those boys really got down to the nitty-gritty of their friendship, huh? Anyway, have fun catching Liam and Charlie on the tour. Keep your eyes peeled on TV Season & Spoilers for your daily fix of EastEnders updates on celebs and news!
