An EastEnders icon just made fans peel their eyes while sporting a totally new look! Steve John Shepherd played the character of Alfie Moon’s brother, Michael Moon, before quitting the show over a decade ago. The BBC One soap viewers also remember him as the father of Janine Butcher’s daughter Scarlett and even her ex-husband. The former EastEnders actor moved on to a completely different role far from the streets of Walford. He’s currently wowing audiences by portraying Draco Malfoy in the West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. In a behind-the- scenes video shared on social media platforms, fans were astonished at his dramatic transformation into the character. The makeup team did such an impressive job that some fans didn’t even recognize him at first!
One user wrote, “How on earth did I miss that Steve John Shepherd had taken over the role?!” Moreover, another user expressed shock while remembering him as Michael Moon from EastEnders. Meanwhile, the third fan chuckled, “Michael Moon has changed a bit.” The fourth individual just hailed Steve’s transformation! Now, let’s rewind a bit on Steve’s time on EastEnders.
The actor debuted on October 1, 2010, shortly after Alfie returned to the scene. The character was infamous for his manipulative and risky behaviour, but he had his own charms. Michael was a dangerous psychopath who was not afraid to backstab anyone. In the soap, he got involved with Roxy Mitchell and later tied the knot with Janine Butcher.
However, Shepherd left the London-based soap in 2013 to pursue other opportunities. His character’s final appearance was in a tragic twist on November 1, 2013.
