Back in 2020, the television industry suffered a huge loss with the heartbreaking demise of EastEnders legend, Barbara Windsor. The powerhouse performer portrayed the character of Queen Vic landlady, Peggy Mitchell. Barbara is survived by her husband, Scott, whom she married in year 2000. In 2014, the actress was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and ever since then, her husband, Scott Mitchell, has been fervently raising awareness about the crippling disease. Moreover, he even ran the London Marathon alongside his and Barbara’s friends to raise money for Dementia Revolution.
After three long years of the EastEnders star’s passing, Scott seems to have finally managed to find the courage to move on in his life, emotionally and figuratively. The latest media reports reveal that Barbara’s widower has started a new relationship with Tanya Franks. The actress who is currently holidaying with Scott in Greece, is best known for portraying Rainie Cross on EastEnders. Interestingly, Tanya was also among the BBC One soap stars who participated in the London Marathon in Barbara’s honour.

Sources close to the EastEnders star, and Barbara’s family and friends has revealed to the media that Barbara’s family is happy for Scott. Moreover, in a chat with The Sun, Scott himself revealed that “he is “life is really good right now.” Furthermore, he added that he is “enjoying some special time” with Tanya. Speaking of the actress, she exited the BBC One soap last year. Her character, Rainie, reunited with her husband, Stuart Highway. The couple then decided to move away from Walford and start a new life in a new place.
However, her exit from EastEnders was written in such a manner that the door for her return is wide open. If the story demands Rainie’s return, she can easily decide to move back to Walford East. But as of now, it seems actress Tanya Franks is busy spending time with her partner. And seems in no rush to return to the screen!
