The former reality star, Jinger Duggar, is finally speaking up about her highly rigorous upbringing. Her new tell-all book named “Becoming Free Indeed” recently launched on January 31. Jinger was raised at the Institute for Basic Life Principles along with her 18 siblings (IBLP). As per Duggar News, it is a nondenominational Christian group that is said to have cult-like beliefs.
The IBLP was established in 1961 by disgraced preacher Bill Gothard who upholds severe modesty restrictions and ultra-conservative ideals. However, growing up, the Duggar kids were subject to several limitations. They were not allowed to dance, listen to popular music, or wear anything that exposed their legs, shoulders, or chest. However, until 2017, Jinger actively participated in the fundamentalist group.
But she eventually left when she realized that she wanted to be independent. Later, when she grew older, she thought of writing a book on all that she has suffered. However, many fans and even some of her family members praised her for her efforts. Her cousin, Amy Duggar, expressed her pride in Jinger for having the guts to speak out. In an interview with TheSun, Amy said she was aware Jinger was writing a book and said she is proud of her.
After her book’s release, she shows some love and support to some of her family members. Recently she sent a copy of her book to Amy with a beautiful message. On the book’s first page, Jinger wrote, “Amy & Aunt Deana Hope you enjoy the book. Love & miss you so much!”. However, Amy shared a video of opening a book on her Instagram. The infamous family member replied to it and thanked Jinger for the sweet gesture.
