Addressing the backlash, Deon recently took to Instagram. “Many of you have had discrepancies about ‘Why is my child support so low?’ Well, let me address that,” he begins. He explains that Karen will pay $2,000 a month for the children’s medical insurance, and legal equity dictates that he pays half of this amount.
Thus, Deon is only responsible for approximately $1,000 a month in child support. However, he added that Karen is living in a separate house after the split. So, he’s covering the bills of both his and her home. “I cover bills at both houses,” Deon explained. “That’s two washing machines and dryers, that’s two kitchens, that’s two stoves, that’s bathrooms at both houses, that’s toilet paper, that’s the light bill, gas bill, mortgages, hazard insurance, I cover all of that.”
Deon concluded by calling out critics, asking them to provide him with any signs of him abandoning his children. “I’m here as a hands-on father because I want to be [and] I enjoy it,” he said. “I enjoy it whether Karen and I are together or not.”
