Mark Charnock Pays Tribute To A Former Emmerdale Actor
Emmerdale legend Michael Jayston (88) recently died from a short illness. His agency confirmed his death on February 5, 2024. The statement revealed the cause of his death and emphasised that his family prefers privacy at this difficult time. Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) has expressed his sorrow over the passing.
Fans know Michael as Donald De Souza on Emmerdale from 2007 to 2008. Also, he was a part of EastEnders, Doctor Who, Only Fools and Horses. The Marlong actor dedicated one of his Twitter (X) posts to the former co-star. Taking to social media, Charnock fondly remembered Jayston as a “completely charming” actor with a “beautiful voice.”
The soap star penned, “Very, very sad to hear of the passing of the wonderful actor Michael Jayston. He graced #Emmerdale with his performance as Donald De Souza some years ago and worked extensively in film, tv & theatre.” Emmerdale fans took to his comment section to send their condolences.
Unfortunately, in the past two months, this was the second death in the Emmerdale family. Back in December, Steve Halliwell took his last breath at the age of 77. The veteran actor played the character of Zak Dingle for nearly three decades. Even though he joined the soap briefly, writers had other plans.
Zak was at the forefront of many big plots, being the pillar of the Dingle family. At the time of Halliwell’s death, he wrote, “Hard to put into words what he meant to us all. From day one, he welcomed me with open arms.” Both Emmerdale actors often engaged in endless conversations about life’s mysteries and shared countless moments of laughter.
The soap star mentioned Halliwell’s multi-talents as an actor, writer, drummer, artist, and philosopher. He added, “But more than that – he was so loved.” RIP Michael Jayston & Steve Halliwell. For more Emmerdale updates, keep coming back to TV Season & Spoilers!
