Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel Osbourne in Coronation Street, has opened up about his character’s fate in Lauren Bolton’s murder storyline. Initially, Roy Cropper is arrested, but the suspicion soon swings back to Daniel. This comes after Bobby Crawford’s new statement involving an intruder at Lauren’s flat.
Rob elaborated on the latest twists, sharing, “Daniel’s head is all over the place!” He seems to stumble from one disaster to another in Coronation Street. According to the actor, he’s got this urge to save people, so he’s always attracted to situations where he can play the hero.
Surprisingly, he had no idea he was under suspicion as he just thought it was because he helped Lauren with her studies. As for DS Swain’s interest in questioning Daniel again, Rob exclaimed, “Wrongly accused once again!” The star shares that his alter ego tries to do the right thing but always ends up in these messes.
Additionally, Rob warned that the latest twists might strain Daniel and Carla Barlow’s relationship on Coronation Street. It’s due to her nephew’s false statement that lands Daniel in trouble. When asked how Daniel would react to Carla’s involvement, Rob exclaimed, ‘Oh, massively betrayed!’
