Coronation Street Star Talks About Her Character’s Off-Screen Death
Coronation Street star Georgia May Foote talked about her character’s off-screen death in Coronation Street. Georgia was popularly known for her portrayal of Katy Armstrong, who she played until 2015. Later, her character was killed in a car accident in 2017. But the accident was not screened on the show. A scene just featured Chesney Brown receiving the tragic news. Additionally, in the year 2010, Georgia made a brief appearance in one episode as Jess Burrows.
Recently, in a Q&A of Instagram stories, Foote answered a question regarding being disappointed with the way her character was written off. The Coronation Street said, “I wouldn’t say disappointed at all.” She even shared that she is ever ready for new adventures after leaving a project. The actress expressed, “Corrie was an amazing nearly 5 years for me, I learned so much and will forever be grateful for the show.” She labeled her Corrie time ‘special’ and declared that she will forever be grateful for the opportunity to have played not only one but two roles in the show.”
Additionally, at the time when the soap star left the show, there were multiple rumours. One of them said that she was fired as she refused to do a storyline, including Katy converting to Islam. Georgia took to Twitter (X) and said, “This is fake shit. As an actress, I would have jumped at the chance to play such a diverse storyline. This was not the reason behind me leaving the show I loved and cherished for 5 years.” Later, a Corrie source confirmed that Georgia never refused to do any storyline.
