Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson has been a part of the show since 1989. We have been seeing him portraying the character of Steve McDonald on the show and taking away the limelight. However, now, the actor has opened up about something very personal. According to reports, Simon turned to learning martial arts and self-defense after a tragic family incident. In the year 2019, Simon Gregson’s wife, Emma Gleave, got her nose broken in an assault. The incident happened while she was saving her brother from some thugs. 

Back at the time, a source stated, “Emma has always been hugely protective of her brother. The two of them had done nothing wrong when this awful man started goading him.” They added that Emma was not really prepared and tried to escape but, within a second, got punched in the face. She was in a lot of pain with a bloody nose. The source confirmed that Coronation Street actor Simon was furious, and if he got his hands on this bloke, God knows what would happen. But his first concern is for Emma.

A week later, the Coronation Street star revealed that he has decided to learn martial arts so that he can protect his family. His family includes his wife and three children. The 49-year-old actor said, “I’ve started with the martial arts. It’s a bit hard as I’m old-ish and fat, but it’s worth it.” Additionally, the couple has not been lucky with pregnancies.

They faced 12 miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy in the past, which even led to Emme being two hours away from death. Emma said, “Every time I found out I was pregnant, I never felt joyous.
