Former Coronation Street Star Beverley Callard Fails To Repay Loans?

Beverley Callard, the actress who played Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, is in trouble with the taxes. Apparently, her acting company owes a whopping £100,000 in taxes. The HMRC is looking into it because reports say Beverley and her husband, Jon McEwan, didn’t pay £215,000 in debts. 

Beverley and her hubby Jon started this company in 2020 to earn extra money. Although they have earned a lot of cash over the years, they have yet to pay back £114,000 in loans and now owe over £100,000 in taxes and VAT. According to records, Coronation Street former’s business account was overdrawn by a whopping £114,124 when it closed.

To top it off, they owed money left and right—£51,450 in VAT to the taxman, £47,319 in corporation tax, and £2,784 to two trade creditors. In total, they were in debt for a staggering £215,677 when the business went under. The Coronation Street actress’s spokesperson responded, saying many of these details are wrong.

However, they couldn’t say much because of a legal dispute. The statement added, “But when it is resolved, and it will be, I will talk about it and look forward to setting the record straight.” Additionally, the actress recently shared her feelings about leaving Coronation Street last year.

She expressed herself on the podcast “How to Be 60”, saying, “I just felt that the scripts weren’t what they used to be.” Callard also mentioned that she wasn’t ‘miserable’ and the new scripts didn’t excite her as much as they used to when she was young.
