Coronation Street: Peter’s Departure Confirmed, Will He Leave Alone Or With Carla?
Coronation Street character Peter Barlow wants a change. DS Swain told Peter that he would not go to prison for killing Stephen because she believed he was protecting Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) and others. Peter felt confined despite his relief. For Peter, life in Weatherfield is a continual reminder of killing a guy. Peter was considering leaving and told Carla about an offshore employment offer a few weeks back. Eventually, Carla told Peter she couldn’t pack in a few days. Peter stayed with his partner to avoid leaving.
In the recent episode of Coronation Street, Peter seemed to regret his choice. Peter was reading the paper in Victoria Garden when Leanne asked him to help Simon move a restaurant kitchen delivery. As he was leaving, Peter checked the paper for a Christmas contest. He liked the ad because of the sun and blue sky. It is confirmed that Peter wants to leave. He and Carla decide they want separate things from life, but where is he heading?
Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod said, “They reach this enormous fork in the road where they love each other, but perhaps their happiness is no longer reliant on each other, which is to say maybe they start to wonder if they’d be happier in some other situation somewhere else basically.” He revealed, “It all builds up to this incredibly surprising Christmas episode, then there’s a huge two-hander between the two of them; more or less, they are the only two cast in the episode.” He added that it’s really bittersweet for the fans of Peter and Carla.
