Alison King (Carla Connor) isn’t leaving Coronation Street anytime soon. Since 2006, Carla’s been through so much on screen, including battling alcoholism, surviving a terrifying rape, dealing with mental health struggles, and multiple weddings. However, Alison loves exploring all these different sides of Carla’s character.

Alison expressed, “I like playing all Carla Connor’s unexpected, varied sides.” She mentioned that Carla has numerous facets to her personality, and while she tries to evolve as a person, her core remains fiery and fearless. Coronation Street star noted that her alter-ego is ‘vulnerable’ and can sometimes be afraid.

She notes that even after feeling all of the emotions that one can, Carla is also fearless. She confronts challenges head-on. This usually leads to ‘brilliant’ storylines where she either finds trouble or does what’s right. The soap star pointed out that viewers understand Carla’s tendency to go off track but appreciate her eventual return.

King expressed her appreciation for being able to portray her Coronation Street character’s vulnerability in situations like psychosis, addiction, and grief. While highlighting her strength as a woman and her nature of making mistakes, she admits to the satisfaction of portraying such a ‘good soul.’

Additionally, besides the plots, it’s her colleagues who make the star eager to return to work daily. She described the team as a close-knit family. She stated, “I’ve made so many friends it’s a dream really.” Alison highlighted the pleasure of portraying diverse roles daily and honing her craft as an actor.
