Baylen Out Loud: Baylen & Her Parents Get Surgery Details To Treat Tourette!
In an exclusive clip from last night’s episode shared by TLC, Baylen Dupree and her parents meet a Tourette doctor. Julie and Allen want to know if their daughter can get Deep Brain Stimulation(DBS) as a solution for tics. In the video, Julie expresses her enthusiasm for the potential impact of the procedure on her daughter’s life.
Calling the surgery “invasive,” Julie shared that she is astounded to hear that 50% of the tics of Baylen would go away. The Tourette and Tics expert takes the reality star and her parents through her demonstration of how the procedure is performed. With the help of a device in her hand, she said that the first step is head shaving.
“You’d be in a frame literally bolted to your skull to keep your head stable,” the neurologist explained. She further went on to add that the surgeons would make an incision and pull the skin back. Then, they will drill a hole in Baylen’s skull before placing the gadget into her brain.
While the woman demonstrated the process, Baylen started getting more major tics. After calling her a “b*tch” once, she kept saying, “Oh hell no,” in her confessional. As her dad tried to stop her in front of the consultation, her DBS details scared her since it was overwhelming.
