American Idol: Carrie Underwood Replaces Katy Perry For Season 23!

Since American Idol season 22 wrapped up, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next season. Moreover, Katy Perry announced that she would be leaving the singing competition as a judge after season 22. Thus, fans were also curious about her replacement on the judges’ panel alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Last week, the official page of American Idol not only announced the upcoming season but also teased the new judge replacing the ‘Harleys In Hawaii’ singer. The page posted a sweet video of Carrie Underwood from her audition days. The caption confirmed her as the new judge, as it read, “CARRIE From #AmericanIdol hopeful, to global icon…to IDOL judge! Home-grown superstar @carrieunderwood will join us for Season 8!”

Long-time American Idol fans remember Carrie’s participation in Season 4 in 2005. Her flawless and infectious energy made her an instant fan favorite. She even won the title that year, launching her successful career as a Country singer. Since then, Carrie has won eight Grammy awards and was named Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year three times. During her appearance on Good Morning America, Carrie expressed her joy about joining the judges’ panel for American Idol.

She described it as feeling “like home.” Carrie added, “There’s so many people that still work on the show that were there when I was a contestant, and I feel like being on both sides of the coin, I’ll be able to hopefully offer some insight and help.” Overall, Carrie is joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie for American Idol season 23.

American Idol: Luke Bryan Advises Carrie Underwood On How To Deal With Him And Lionel Richie!

Following the exciting announcement of Carrie joining American Idol season 23 as a judge, Luke Bryan offered her some advice on dealing with her co-judges. During his appearance on Seattle Radio, host Gabe Mercer asked Bryan if he had any advice for Carrie. Bryan replied joking, “Up her therapist.” He added, “If she has a therapist, she’s probably going to have to double to deal with me and Lionel.”

However, Luke further offered to reimburse Carrie’s therapist, suggesting he should perhaps “credit her.” He even joked about calling her therapist and gifting her a voucher. It seems Carrie would have a lot to manage when she joins Luke and Lionel on the judges’ panel. Sadly, viewers would have to wait to watch the fun unload.

The makers have yet to announce when American Idol season 23 will premiere, but it’s not expected before 2025. Stay tuned to TV Season & Spoilers for the latest American Idol updates.
