Surprisingly, Sky One dropped the first trailer of the third season soon after its second season finale aired on Friday on March 12. Well, it was unexpected, but 30 seconds long clip teased a lot about its final run. The trailer opened with a voice claiming, “The de Clermonts’ day is nearly over,” alongside focusing on two holding hands. Before we can figure out anything, another voice teased that they can’t win this war.
It looks like the battle is just about to begin as a clique appeared vowing: “If they take on one of us then they take us all on,” as they touched the sword. Finally, the third season will move to its epic finale, where some believe the war is the only solution. But the central characters feel that they need a revolution to control the outcomes of the war and the things around them. Will they succeed? It’s hard to guess now.

As the trailer comes to its end, we saw Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont, played by Teresa Palmer and Mattew Goode. It means they will definitely return. Other members recurring in the third season include Ivanno Jeremiah as Christoper Roberts and Olivier Huband as Fernando. Toby Regbo as Jack-Matthew will join with Genesis Lynea as Geraldine and Parker Sawyers as Ransome Fayrweather. However, The Last Kingdom star Peter McDonald will replace Trystan Gravelle after a scheduling conflict that later pulled out Trystan from the cast. So, Peter will join as senior vampire Baldwin Montclair/ de Clermont.

The second season begins airing in January 2021, two years after season 1 concluded on Sky One. But Sky One has already revealed that A Discovery Of Witches Season 3 will air sometime in 2022.
