90 Day Fiance star Josh has moved to China to start a new life with his partner, Lily. However, adjusting to a new country has caused a new set of issues. Beyond the cultural differences, the reality TV couple is also facing financial difficulties. Moreover, Lily’s family seemed to disapprove of Josh, especially because he is not the main provider for the family.
With so many problems lining up, one can’t forget that Josh and Lily also struggle with language barrier issues. Josh is fluent in English, while Lily’s first language is Mandarin. It appears this difference has finally taken a toll on the couple. In the latest episode, we saw these translation issues leading to a heated argument between Josh and Lily. So, what’s the latest on Josh and Lily? Let’s find out.
Lily and Josh are fan favorites, debuting in 90 Day Fiance season 6. Lily, a business owner from Hangzhou, China, met Josh, hailing from South Carolina, on a language learning app. The two tied the knot in Las Vegas with Josh moving to China on a spousal visa. Due to legal reasons, Josh cannot work for at least five years in China. However, the couple’s challenges look beyond the financial and cultural differences.
In the latest episode of 90 Day Fiance, Josh and Lily opened up about experiencing translation issues. Detailing the incident, Josh noted that the couple had a heated argument the night before. The reality TV star had concerns about a white light that frequently flashes when Lily is driving. However, despite repeatedly telling her about this, the 42-year-old believes she doesn’t understand the issue.
Josh was worried that the flashing light might be cameras stalking the couple. However, his partner couldn’t quite grasp the gravity of his uneasiness. “I think Lily understands me maybe 75% of the time,” he stated. Josh emphasized that despite Lily saying she understands him, she actually doesn’t. “All our arguments are probably due to simple translation errors,” he noted.
The 90 Day Fiance episode showed Josh asking Lily to turn their car around to drive through their parking garage again so he could show her the flashing lights. However, this request frustrates Lily. Notably, the drive around helps her realize that the flashes were nothing but her garage taking photos. “Because of this incident, he was in a terrible mood,” she concludes.
Earlier in August, Lily’s sister sat down with the couple to discuss about Josh’s employment issues in China. “It’s not by choice. We knew when we moved to China I can’t work,” Josh explained. Despite the legal reasons being a valid reason, Josh believed he was judged for not being able to work. “I don’t want Lily’s family to have any reason to think that this marriage is not a good idea,” he noted.
Despite not being able to help with the monetary issues, Josh listed a bunch of household work he could do. Lily’s sister listened to him intently. During a private confessional, she confessed to being worried about her sister. She also emphasized that Josh’s unemployment would put more pressure on Lily.
