Well, as per inTouch, a Georgian lawyer answered this question. Randy Kessler said that the concept of annulment is based on proving “there never was a marriage.” And when a marriage lasts long, immigration authorities consider it valid.
This means that if Angela’s team of lawyers prove that her and Michael’s marriage didn’t exist, it will lead to his deportation. After all, his “immigration status” lies on a part of “his marriage” with Angela. So, it’s clear that Angela’s motive to file for annulment stems from getting Michael deported and hurting him even further.
