The TLC docuseries intially featured Tammy and Amy struggling with their weight for years. They tried to shed pounds on their own but soon realized that medical intervention was necessary. Hence, the siblings consulted an Atlanta-based bariatric surgeon and landed on 1000 Lb Sisters. At first, Amy and Tammy both had a rough journey, but the show has documented their miraculous progress. Hence, now is the time to talk about renaming the show based on the new weights of the Slaton sisters. Well, fans believe it should be 600 Lb Sisters now.
During the first season of the show, Amy weighed around 400 pounds. After getting the approval for gastric bypass surgery in 2019, she lost about 130 pounds. This basically made her 275 pounds before her first pregnancy. Intially, she was a bit worried, but soon she figured out that she had only gained about 10 pounds during her two pregnancies. Hence, Amy’s current weight would be around 225 pounds!
On the other hand, Tammy weighed over 700 pounds during her debut in Season 1. She had several issues but managed to lose 100 pounds. The TLC star then stayed in rehab and attained her goal of 534 pounds. After her weight loss surgery, she dipped below 400 pounds. Hence, Tammy’s current weight is estimated to be around 375 pounds now! Well, even though their weights have drastically dropped, it might be hard to change the name after four seasons. However, fans have been asking TLC to rename the show like they did for 18 Kids & Counting, which later became 19 Kids & Counting.
1000 Lb Sisters: Tammy & Amy Had Rough Weight Loss Journeys!
After witnessing the struggles of the 1000 Lb Sisters, several viewers were doubtful if Amy and Tammy would even be able to lose weight or not. Their food addiction was evident that acted as a barrier to their goal. Hence, they had to overhaul their diet as they were in their 30s and knew their lives would be in danger if they didn’t work now. Amy was determined to achieve a healthy body, lost considerable weight in Season 1, and got approval for gastric bypass surgery.
On the other hand, Tammy was the exact opposite. She wasn’t even close to her target in Season 1. Hence, the TLC star had to stay in a food rehab clinic and deal with a life-and-death situation.
