Back in August 2019, Warner Brothers brought The Matrix Universe alive. The globally acclaimed science-fiction movie series got the renewal for Matrix 4. With its next installment in works, the desperate fans of Matrix need every update on the upcoming sci-fi movie as soon as possible.
Matrix is one of the most successful franchises of the last decade. The movie debuted in 1999, followed by another two runs in 2003. The three films collectively earned more than $1.6 billion worldwide. With Keanu Reeves and Carrie Ann-Moss on board with their iconic characters Neo and Trinity, the fans are expecting to have another mega-hit Matrix movie.
New Lead In Matrix 4
The next installment of Matrix will feature one more lead, and that too, very familiar one for the fans. They had added Aquaman and The Greatest Showman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Yahya will play one of the leads alongside Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss. Previously, rumors also surfaced that the upcoming Matrix movie will bring in a young Morpheus (and maybe Neo too). Maybe Yahya is signed for that role of young Morpheus only. However, Michael B. Jordan has been previously rumored to be the next young Morpheous but turned down later.
Matrix 4 in Pre-Production Phase
Lately, when Warner Bros. officially renewed Matrix franchise for its fourth run in August, they also announced Lana Wachowski’s return as the writer and director. According to the officials, Lana is a true visionary; a singular and original creative filmmaker – and they are thrilled that she is writing, directing, and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe. Since then, there has not been any significant update on the upcoming installment until the recent joining of Yahya. Also, as per the latest reports, the filming work for Matrix 4 will begin in early 2020.
Stars Discussing Matrix 4
Carrie Ann-Moss attended 2019 New York Comic-Con to promote her role in the second season of CBS All Access’ Tell Me A Story. There also, she seems pretty tight-lipped when asked about what Matrix 4 will bring. However, she ended up expressing it to a small bunch of reporters. According to Carrie, she is super excited, and love to do nothing but talk about it. However, she also added that there’s a time for that, and she wants to give it all the respect and room that it needs.
The lead of the franchise, Keanu Reeves, also described Matrix 4 as a very ambitious project, as it should be. It looks like Reaves has already read the script, and holding on to it very precisely.
Matrix 4: Plot Details
As the movie is in its pre-production phase, there is not much to deliver about the upcoming run of Matrix film. However, Lana hinted that she is currently going through the concepts she previously developed with sister Lilly Wachowski for a new screenplay. Along with this, she is collaborating with writer David Mitchell and The Lazarus Project author Aleksandar Hemon.
Matrix 4: Release Date
The fourth movie of the Matrix franchise is just in its pre-production phase. Therefore, the audience needs to keep some patience as the upcoming Matrix installment will land in some time. Possibly 2020 or 2021 will be the presumable premiere time for the premiere of Matrix 4.
