After breaking records with Parabellum, the killing game is continued for more. Baba Yaga will come back to complete the task for once and all. John Wick 4 will be the next hit for the franchise. Lionsgate announced the renewal just after a week of the release of John Wick 3: Parabellum.
John Wick debuted in 2014, with an ex-hitman who is dragged back into the killing game when the mob steals his car and kills his dog. The sequel smashed the theaters three years later, in 2017 and became a more significant hit than the first one. The series initially opted in the form of the trilogy, with its third movie released recently in May 2019. Its first-week collection was $93.3 million, more than the total revenue of the first movie. Its worldwide popularity and love among the audience resulted in the renewal for the fourth one.
John Wick 4: Release Date Announced
News about the renewal for the fourth movie announced via text message. This was as same as the first trailer released for Chapter 3. The text message stated as “You have served. You will be of service. John Wick: Chapter 4 is coming- May 21, 2021.” Yes! The next installment will release just after two years. This is the least time gap between any two movies of the series.
Parabellum Sets Up For John WIck 4
The third movie left quite some loose threads which would tie all together in the fourth one. After an intense fight, Manager Winston shoots and seemingly kills John to regain the High Table’s favor and to protect The Continental. However, John is not dead yet (Obviously, Its not that easy to kill the Boogeyman). He is then taken to the Bowery King, who speaks of revenge.
When asked if he’s angry, John angrily growls, “Yeah.” This means that the fourth movie will also expand the revenge story, upto some new and exquisite levels. The fourth movie will likely set John and the Bowery King working together against both the High Table and The Continental.
John Wick 4 Would Not Be A Happy Ending
After the release of the third movie, the stunt-man turned director; Chad Stahelski talked about the upcoming film of the series. And according to him, the film will not end up all happily, with John walking up by the sunset, near the ocean. The guy has killed 300 people, and he’s not just going to walk away. He also added that John’s life is now messed up for the rest of his life, and it won’t get any better.
John Wick Spin-Off Series
It seems like the audience does not have to wait for the next two years to see the assassin action again. Stahelski is currently working on a John Wick TV spinoff for Starz called The Continental. The show will focus on the coin-exchanging hotel and its activities. The series will likely follow a new character. However, cameo’s of the stars, including Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane would possibly be in the series. Till then stay tuned for latest updates on John Wick 4.
