With its debut in 2009, James Cameron’s Avatar captured the eyes of the entire world. The movie claimed as a breakthrough in cinematic technology. Since then, the audience has been waiting for Avatar 2 to come up. Though the film got renewed for the next two movies just after the massive success of Avatar, its been a decade now and still the sequel is under development.
Avatar 2 has been delayed back again and again for so many reasons. The announcement for the first two sequels took place in 2010. At that time, the sequel was scheduled for 2014 release. However, the further addition of three more movies to the franchise and the requirement of some modern technologies for the sequels added to the delay.

First Glasses-Free 3D Movie

The first movie made extensive use of new motion capture filming techniques. Avatar was the first movie in the history of cinema to use stereoscopic filmmaking. At the time of its theatrical run, the film broke many box office records. Avatar also became the highest-grossing film of all time. The record has not been broken till now. (Avengers: Endgame may soon break this record)

According to him, there are quite some possibilities that the film could feature that way. However, it is not entirely certain yet. If that happens, Avatar 2 will set its place as the first glasses-free 3D movie in film history.
