General Hospital viewers know that Cameron Mathison is joining the cast of the daytime soap opera. While we don’t yet know what character exactly he would play, there have been speculations that he will play the character of Drew Cain. Billy Miller previously played the character, but now, Mathison is coming in to step into Miller’s shoes. Now that Cameron’s debut date is coming near, it is becoming more and more difficult for him to hide details about his character.
Recently, the actor spoke to Soap Opera Digest, where he revealed new details. Speaking about what he knew and could tell about his character, Mathison says that he was given little decoy names of characters and storylines. He says that it has been very easy for him to tell people that he has no idea because he really has no idea on what’s going on. However, Mathison did reveal that his character is quite different from Ryan’s. In some ways, his character has some aspects that play to his strengths.
Moving on from talking about his character, Mathison spoke about how he bagged this role. He says that his Hallmark Channel talk show Home & Family was cut down to just two tapings a week recently. After that, he kind of reached out to Frank Valentini (the executive producer of General Hospital).
He told Frank that he would have three days a week off. He didn’t want to be presumptuous, and he is a huge fan of Frank and the show. As reported by She Knows from Soaps.com, Mathison recalls that he hadn’t even finished the text or whatever it was, but Frank took it, and it was just amazing. It was beyond what Cameron was hoping for.
So, it looks like Cameron has himself to thank for this role. Viewers will soon get to see Cameron taking on whatever role he is coming in for. So, make sure you don’t miss the episodes.
