Despite its massive demand, the studio is still hesitant to work on Youjo Senki Season 2. NUT has kept entirely mum on the release of the second installment. They have been avoiding conversations about Season 2 ever since the ‘The Saga Of Tanya The Evil: the Movie’ released.
However, according to a 2017 article by Crunchyroll, The Saga Of Tanya The Evil anime series is listed for a total of 26 episodes. While the debut season has only 12 episodes, it’s clear that the rest of them will be covered in Season 2. The article also suggests that the studio can convert the anime into a multi-cour series. Hence, the next set of episodes can actually turn out to be the second part of Season 1. Yet, currently, there are no confirmations of the same.
On the other hand, a Redditor suggests that there’s still hope for ‘The Saga Of Tanya The Evil Season 2.’ According to the Reddit thread, the Redditor had personally been to the AnimagiC 2019 event in Germany. Upon being asked about the future of Youjo Senki, director Yutaka Uemura and producer Takuya Tsunoki give some significant statements. They state that it’s hard to promise a second season. However, they don’t want Tanya’s journey to end after the movie.
Well, looking at its popularity and success rate, it’s hard to consider the cancelation of the anime. In fact, the studio may not risk ending a series as profitable as Youjo Senki. As of now, chances of the anime to return are pretty high. However, fans may have to wait longer for an official announcement.
Youjo Senki Season 2: Is There Enough Source Material?
Youjo Senki is a popular light novel series written by Carlo Zen and illustrated by Shinobu Shinotsuki. The novels began serializing back in 2013, and as of today, it has around eleven volumes. The anime adaptation of the LN covered almost three volumes in the first season. On the other hand, the 2019 sequel film barely covered a couple of light novel volumes.
Hence, the studio still has enough source material to cover in The Saga Of Tanya The Evil Season 2. In fact, with the rest of the LN volumes, NUT can easily create a third installment as well.
The Saga Of Tanya The Evil Season 2: Release Date
NUT took more than a year to order the sequel film back in 2018. After its renewal, the movie took another year to return to the screens in February 2019. According to the pattern, the studio may declare the renewal of Saga Of Tanya The Evil Season 2 anytime soon. However, being a full series, it may take a while to be back on the television. As of now, the second installment of Youjo Senki may not debut anytime sooner than early to mid-2021. Well, it’s always wise to wait for an official confirmation.
