It’s unfortunate that a highly potential anime series has finally come to an end. Hence, there’s almost no chance for Saekano Season 3 to return. Yet, it’s become hard for fans to let go of the characters. In fact, a large number of viewers still hope to get another season of the anime. Can fans save the series? Here’s everything to know.
Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend is a 2012 light novel series that became popular for its concept. Years later, in 2015, A-1 Pictures adapted the story into an anime series that began with an OVA episode. The harem anime became an instant hit and received immense praise from the audience and critics alike. Hence, the studio released another installment of the show in 2017, which turned out to be a bigger success. However, when fans were expecting another season, they got a film instead.
Will ‘Saekano Season 3’ Ever Come Out?
More than two years after the Season 2 release, fans got to watch a brand-new Saekano movie. It premiered in the theatres in Japan on October 26, 2019. The movie opened up to positive reviews and ratings. However, the film brought along the end of the entire story. It was titled ‘Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata fine’ or ‘Saikano the Movie: Finale.’
As the name suggests, the movie brings us the conclusion of the final story of the anime. It ties up all potential romantic relationships of Tomoya, without leaving loose threads. Well, honestly, the ending seemed pretty satisfying as all characters had their own closures, even if they ended up with Tomoya or not.
On the other hand, the movie also adapted the final three volumes left of the light novel series. It also provides an original epilogue, after using all available Saekano content. Hence, A-1 Pictures has almost no source material to create Saekano Season 3.
Can Fans Save It?
Despite getting the ultimate conclusion to the plot of Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend, fans are still hopeful for a third season. In the past, fans and followers have actually saved shows from being canceled. However, it will really hard to save Saekano Season 3.
The studio does not have any source material to create another new episode. Writer Fumiaki Maruto wrapped up the light novel series back in 2017. Whereas, the manga adaptation and spin-off mangas had also ended completely in 2018. Hence, there’s no scope for the return of the anime until A-1 Pictures decide to create original content.
Considering that all characters have got their closures, the studio may not want to ruin the story by making another season. Therefore, it would not be possible for fans to save the anime in any form. As of now, it’s better to bid goodbyes to your favorite characters than keeping false hopes.
Will There Be Any Spin-Offs?
It’s been a while since the Saekano: How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend released in the theatres. However, there’s still enough talk about the anime amongst viewers from around the globe. Well, some of the fans are pointing out the possibility of Saekano spin-offs in the future. Fortunately, chances for some spin-off are still pretty high.
Despite having no source material, some studios do create original content for spin-off TV series or films. Hence, it’s still likely that fans may get to see a few of their favorite characters in future Saekano projects. The plot of the light novel/anime is pretty vast and has a bunch of interesting characters. Creators can actually pick up one of these characters and give them their own separate series.
However, while the possibilities for such spin-offs are pretty high, none of them are yet to be confirmed by the officials. Although we promise to inform you as soon as the news arrives.
