Highschool DxD Season 5 is now confirmed, and fan-favorite harem anime will surely return for a sequel. The recent, Highschool DxD Hero was a hit, and the anime didn’t fail to impress the fans. Season 4 of the anime hs just ended in June this year, and now the fans are waiting for the news for the Highschool DxD Season 5.
For Season 5 of the HighSchool DxD, the command of the production is now taken over by Passione Studio. The director, Yoshifumi Sueda, has already decided what to put in the sequel. According to Sueda, he is going to take a small part of the story from the light novels and adapt it to anime. There is already enough material in the light novels, which can be easily adapted into the anime version of the series for Season 5.
Highschool DxD Season 5 to follow Hero Oppai Dragon Arc
Passione studio and Sueda have announced that the Highschool DxD Season 5 will continue with the ‘Hero Oppai Dragon’ story arc from the manga. The arc was started in Season 4 of the anime and has covered two volumes 9 and 10 from the light novels. The anime has always been following the manga very closely, and hence it is safe to assume that the new season will follow the volumes 11 and 12.
Ichiei, the author of the series, finished the 12th volume of the series in the year 2012. If we look up the light novels, there is still more material for more seasons after the release of the fifth Season.
The story arc starts with the commencement of the Middle-Class Promotion Test. While Issei, Akeno and Kiba will prepare for the test, Koneko will begin to act suspiciously. Koneko has witnessed Issei and Rias’ closeness upfront. The story takes an exciting turn when Azazel brings Ophis and the leader of Khaos Brigade to the Hyoudou Residence.
It could be a thoughtful solution to the crisis of Season 3 where the author tried to put three light novels into 12 episode Season, and it failed miserably. Also, Season 3 of the anime veered away from the source material and was disapproved by the fans of the series.
Passione Studio is trying not to redo the past mistakes made by the creators. The animes which do not stay faithful to the manga often displease the audience. One of the most prominent examples for this is Tokyo Ghoul, as the original anime did not remain faithful to the manga and was disliked by the fans, whereas the Tokyo Ghoul: re is one of the most critically acclaimed anime of 2017.
The animation studio, Passione has not given anything official about the Highschool DxD Season 5, but earlier they had confirmed that there would be the 6th season to complete the current story arc.
The Release of Highschool DxD Season 5
The Passione studio has been pretty busy this year with the release of the anime ‘Citrus’ which was followed by the release of ‘Highschool DxD Hero’ in June and then a slice of life comedy Hinako released recently.
Passione studio is known to work on a single anime at a time, and recently, they are produced the anime ‘Z/X Code Reunion’ which aired between October 8, 2019 – December 24, 2019. After that, the studio is booked for the anime, ‘Project [B.B].’ The earliest release of Highschool DxD Season 5, can only be after the release of Project [B.B].
Now it all depends on the Passione studio and their schedule for their current and future productions to decide when to pull out the season 5 of the anime. Although, we can safely speculate the release of Highschool DxD Season 5 in the fall of 2021.
