Zero and the Mercenary may not have got together by the end, but we still hope that they do in Grimoire Of Zero Season 2. Unfortunately, the creators of the fantastic anime are yet to announce an official renewal. It’s been two years since the series ended, and it’s finally time to raise some serious questions. Will it ever come back? Here’s everything to know.
Grimoire Of Zero or Zero kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho originated as a light novel series back in 2014. The series became an instant hit and ran for a total of eleven LN volumes until 2017. Due to its immense popularity, White Fox studio picked up the story to produce an anime adaptation. The animated show debuted in April 2017 and turned out to be one of the finest creations by the studio.
Grimoire Of Zero Season 2: Will It Ever Return?
Luckily, chances for the renewal of the fantasy anime are still pretty high. Even after two years, the second season remains to be in high demand. In fact, the debut installment received quite impressive ratings and reviews. Besides, Grimoire Of Zero Season 2 can actually turn out to be a profitable production for the studio.
On the other hand, fans shouldn’t be worried about the two-year hiatus as well. Unlike most of the US television shows, animes usually have long gaps between two seasons. In fact, anime like One-Punch Man and Log Horizon have returned after four to five years. Hence, it’s totally normal if White Fox is taking a while to make a firm decision.
However, the lack of source material in the run may cause issues in the revival of the anime. The Zero kara Hajimeru Mahō no Sho light novel began publishing back in 2014. Whereas, the last LN volume came out towards the end of 2017. Since then, none of the volumes have come out. The anime series came out in April 2017 and wasn’t able to sell off as many books as expected. Hence, now that Grimoire Of Zero Season 2 has no content to promote, the studio may hesitate to renew the show.
Although if there’s a high demand from fans, White Fox might consider the idea. The studio did not have any history in creating sequels of any of its anime. Fortunately, the company has taken a step forward with the renewal of Re:Zero Season 2. Hence, there’s an opportunity for other shows as well. If the demand increases, White Fox may finally end up waving the green flag.
Is There Enough Source Material?
The Grimoire Of Zero light novel consists of 11 LN volumes. The debut season of the fantasy anime series had a total of twelve episodes. These episodes ended up covering the first three volumes of the light novel series. Hence, the studio still has around eight books to adapt to the upcoming installment. In fact, the remaining number of volumes may create not just one but at least two other seasons of anime.
Luckily, there’s enough source material that the producers can use to create Grimoire Of Zero Season 2. Hence, there’s still hope for the return of the anime series.
What Will Happen Next?
Towards the end of the first season, Zero confessed to the Mercenary that she was expecting a romantic relationship from him. Sadly, the Mercenary insisted that he’s only there for Zero’s protection. By Season 2, things may get complex between the two of them. Although we hope that they figure out some way to get better with each other.
As per possibilities, the new season is expected to cover the next three volumes of the light novel series. Although it’s important to consider that the studio may plan to end the show with the second installment. Hence, Grimoire Of Zero Season 2 can even use more than three volumes to finish up the story of the much-awaited anime sequel.
Grimoire Of Zero Season 2: Release Date
White Fox studio is yet to announce the official renewal of the second season. Hence, it’s hard to predict a release date as of now. However, even if the producers wave the green flag right away, Grimoire Of Zero Season 2 may not premeire anytime sooner than mid to late 2021. Yet, we promise to keep this article updated as soon as the news arrives.
