After waiting for five long years, we finally see some hope for God Eater Season 2. It is one of the best animes that originated from a video game. Fans had many expectations from the second season. However, despite its popularity, the studio is yet to announce an official renewal. When will the anime release? Here’s everything to know.
God Eaters originated as a Japanese RPG video game back in 2010. It became immensely popular amongst youth and soon released two more parts in 2013 and 2018. An anime adaptation of the game arrived midway in 2015. The series is animated by Ufotable studio and is directed by Takayuki Hirao.
Will God Eater Season 2 Ever Come Out?
The debut season of the anime adaptation was created to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the God Eater video game. We are now approaching the tenth anniversary of the franchise in 2020. Hence, chances suggest that the studio may produce another season of the anime on the occasion. As of now, Ufotable is yet to confirm the same, however, fans will have to wait for a little longer to know if it’s true.
God Eater video game and anime are both immensely popular amongst the youth in Japan and internationally as well. Hence, the demand for God Eater 4 (video game) and God Eater Season 2 (anime) are both pretty high. Although possibilities say that the video game will only release after the conclusion of the anime installment. The TV series can help in increasing the sale of the game.
On the contrary, some speculations say that the anime will not return to the screens anymore. Apparently, fans say that Ufotable created the anime only to increase the sale of the video game. Also, the studio may not be planning to create anime episodes anymore. However, they may produce God Eater Season 2 in order to promote a new part of the video game. Hence, unless the creators confirm God Eater 4, there are little to no possibilities of a second anime installment.
Whereas, since there is no source material to pick up content, Ufotable will have to create an original story for Season 2 again. However, the studio may use some plot angles from the video game.
God Eater Anime Season 2: What Will Happen Next?
Like the video game, the God Eater anime is located in the 2071 post-apocalyptic nation of the New Asian Union. In this version of the world, humanity is on the brink of extinction due to the emergence of man-eating monsters called Aragami. These creatures are immune to damage from all conventional weapons. Hence, an organization, Fenrir, emerges to help humans. The members of this organization are called God Eaters as they use biomechanical chemicals to eradicate Aragami.
According to speculations, the second season of the popular anime is expected to feature a new lead, since Lindow has lost his arm during a battle with Aragami. As per the rumors. Lenka Utsugi will emerge as the new lead character, alongside another hero character. However, Lindow and Shio will both return in God Eater Season 2 again. Well, as per the looks, the new installment seems pretty exciting than before.
God Eater Season 2: Release Date
As mentioned above, there are chances that Ufotable may renew the anime to celebrate God Eater video game’s tenth anniversary. The studio is yet to confirm the speculation. However, an announcement may arrive anytime soon. Well, as of now, God Eater Season 2 may release sometime around mid to late-2020. Although due to heavy animation, the series takes a bit too long in the productions. In that case, the new season may premiere as late as early to mid-2021.
