While the year was a tough one for most of us, 2020 undoubtedly gave some of the best anime in recent times. We got to watch sequels of popular shows like Haikyuu!! and Attack On Titan, alongside some entertaining new shows like Beastars and Bofuri: I Don’t Want To Be Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defence. In fact, fans were rewarded with the renewal of Bofuri Season 2 as well. The much-awaited second season is likely to hit the screens sometime soon. Hence, here are all the details you need to know about the anime’s return.
Bofuri: I Don’t Want To Be Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defence originated as a light novel series illustrated by Koin and written by Yuumikan. The LN began serialization as a web novel back in 2016 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō novel publishing website. The series was later published as tankōbon volumes after being acquired by Fujimi Shobo. Due to its increasing popularity, the story was then picked up for many adaptations, including a manga series and a television anime.
Bofuri Season 2: Official Renewal
The Bofuri TV anime series became an instant hit after its debut back in January 2020. The Studio Silver Link show aired for a total of twelve episodes until March of the same year. Well, the series already gained popularity while it was releasing. Hence, fans began to demand a second run even before its finale’s broadcast. Fortunately, the studio surprised the viewers with an early renewal at the end of the last episode.
Later on, when asked for an official announcement, Silver Link finally confirmed the news. Moreover, Funimation went on to declare the renewal separately. Even though it is not confirmed, the studio seems to have picked up the anime’s productions already. Speculations say that the production process might continue in the coming months. We will keep on updating this section with all relevant information about Bofuri Season 2.
Is There Enough Source Material For Another Season?
Unlike other television shows, anime adaptations are mainly dependant on their source material for the plot. In fact, they usually survive only if there’s enough content to adapt. The Bofuri: Itai no wa Iya nano de Bōgyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu light novel has released for a total of eleven volumes between 2017 and January 2021. Whereas, the first season of the popular anime only covered the first four volumes containing 127 chapters. Hence, Studio Silver Link still has seven LN volumes left.
Well, given that the light novel series is still in the run, the creators will get more content for future installments as well. As of now, Silver Link will probably adapt the next four volumes of the LN series. Bofuri Season 2 will begin after the events of Season 1’s last episode and will cover the plot from Chapter 128/129. The manga adaptation of Bofuri is yet to catch up with the anime. Moreover, the English version of the LN has not hit the market yet. As per the latest updates, Volume 1’s English translation will be launched by Yen Press on March 23, 2021.
Bofuri Season 2: Release Date
Ever since Silver Link confirmed the sequel, fans have been waiting for the official release date. Well, as of now, none of the producers of the anime have talked about its premiere. However, speculations say that production for the second season of Bofuri: I Don’t Want To Be Hurt, So I’ll Max Out My Defence has already begun. The studio will likely take a few more months to complete works on the installment. Hence, at the earliest, the new episodes of Bofuri Season 2 will hit the screens sometime around January 2022. Keep an eye on this corner for all latest updates.
