The ninth episode of Shingeki No Kyojin’s final season began with Armin telling a story of what happened three years ago to Annie. She is still in her crystal. Eren’s Attack Titan pull the ship of Marleyan soldiers who came to gather intelligence after the defeat of their warriors’ unit. And that was the very first time the members of Scout met Yelena and Onyankopon. She revealed to them about the Anti-Marleyan who are planning to liberate Eldia.
The engineers from Marley also teach them about their advanced machinery. And that explains how Eldia managed to grow that much with their technology in only three years. Yelena got stunned after knowing that they killed all the pure titans. Hence she proposed them to join forces with the Anti-Marleyan unit, led by Zeke Yeager himself. In the ending moments of the episode, Eren said they couldn’t win if they don’t fight, and if they don’t win, they won’t survive. Therefore they have to fight in order to win and survive.
