Akashic Records Of Bastard Magic Instructor light novel series began serializing in 2014. As of now, the series has a total of 16 LN volumes, including the latest one that released in January 2020. The first season of the anime adaptation covers the plot of the first five novels in total.
Back in 2017, fans were worried about the future of the anime because there weren’t enough light novel volumes released. Until then, only eight LN volumes were serialized, which weren’t enough to create a full season. Luckily, light novel writer Tarō Hitsuji picked up the pace and published plenty of chapters in the last few years.
As of now, the studio has more than enough source material to create a 12-episode Akashic Records Of Bastard Magic Instructor Season 2. In fact, the remaining eleven light novel volumes can be used to develop two installments of the anime. Well, currently, we can at least hope to get a sequel to the popular anime.

The story of the series revolves around Sistine Fibel and her best friend, Rumia Tingel. The two of them are students at a prestigious magical academy. Sistine intends to receive the best training in order to fulfill her grandfather’s last wish. She wants to explore the secrets of the mysterious Sky Castle. However, her favorite instructor is replaced by a lazy and incompetent instructor, Glenn. Although she later realizes that his unusual training methods are actually useful.
The debut season followed the ending of Volume 5 of the light novel. The finale episode finally talked the Akashic Records. They are actually the abstract of all human events, thoughts, words, emotions, and intent that have ever occurred. The information is encoded in a non-physical plane of existence, which is powerful enough to control the principles of the physical world.
Akashic Records Of Bastard Magic Instructor Season 2 will pick up the plot of the sixth LN volume. Glenn and his students will go deep into the mysteries beneath the Alzano Imperial Magic Academy. On the other hand, fans will also get to know about Cecelia’s life story. Whereas, Riel will now be moving to an all-female academy. Hence, Glenn will transform into a girl and go to inspect the all-girls school along with Sistine and Rumia. Well, the second season is going to be an exciting ride.

As of now, Liden Films is yet to renew the anime for a second round. However, the green flag can arrive at the door anytime soon. Well, as per the current situation, fans can expect some brand-new episodes sometime around the middle of 2021.
