After waiting for six long years, we finally see some hope for Akame ga Kill Season 2. The anime became a hit after its debut back in 2014. Ever since the series ended, its loyal fanbase was expecting it to return for a second round. Well, it’s finally time for some more Akame ga Kill! When will it be back? Here’s everything to know.
The popular action anime is known for its grand uncensored gore. It is one of the most unpredictable shows of all-time. Any character on the show can be killed off at any point despite their importance or character development. Besides, the series is full of unwatchable gore so much so that the screens literally blacked out for some scenes during its TV premiere. In fact, several scenes contain gallons of blood and human bodies chopped in pieces. Yet, a large number of people enjoyed the gore and are in love with the series even after six years of its release.
New Manga Sequel!
Back in 2017, the world-famous manga series made a comeback with a sequel manga titled ‘Hinowa ga Crush.’ The second series received satisfactory reviews from fans and critics alike. As of early 2020, Hinowa go Crush! manga series contains four manga volumes. The latest one of them came out back in December 2019.
The story of the sequel features a new set of characters based in a fictional island, Wakoku. The civil war offers anyone to join the army and get a chance to become a hero. Hence, a young woman with extraordinary skills, Hinowa, determines to fight the disastrous battle. However, things don’t always go as planned.
Will Akame ga Kill Season 2 Ever Come Out?
A while ago, fans had begun to lose hope for Akame ga Kill Season 2. Apparently, despite having enough source material left, the story of the entire series ended with the anime’s first season. All of the characters had their respective closures, and the plot was wrapped up effectively. Hence, chances for a second installment were slim earlier. If the studio intends to create new episodes, it will have to build up a new story, introduce new characters, villains, and weapons.
Luckily, there’s finally some for the sequel of the anime. White Fox studio finally has a new story to produce new episodes. As mentioned above, writer Takahiro and illustrator Tetsuya Tashiro came up with a sequel manga series called Hinowa ga Crush. This manga series can be used to create Akame ga Kill Season 2. Similar to the expectations, the second season will now have a brand new story, characters, and weapons, as well.
However, as of now, only four volumes of the sequel manga have released. The studio won’t be able to renew Akame ga Kill Season 2 until they have enough source material. Hence, fans may have to wait for a while to watch the sequel anime.
Akame ga Kill! Spin-off Series!
At this point in time, fans are ready to watch anything related to their favorite anime. In fact, a large number of followers have signed petitions for the revival of Akame ga Kill. Well, one way to continue the story of the first season is to release a spin-off anime series.
Back in 2014, the writer-illustrator duo Takahiro and Tetsuya Tashiro came up with a spin-off manga of Akame ga Kill. The series called Akame ga Kill! Zero was a prequel to the first season. It focused on lead character Akame’s past during the days she worked as an assassin for the Empire. Besides, it ran for ten volumes until April 2019. As of now, the chances are high that White Fox studio may pick up the prequel manga to produce a spin-off anime series. However, there’s no official confirmation by the studio yet.
Akame ga Kill Season 2: Release Date
As of now, Hinowa ga Crush is the only hope for the revival of the anime. However, the sequel manga is still in the run and may take a while to conclude. White Fox may renew Akame ga Kill Season 2 once they have enough source material. Well, as per the current speed of release of Hinowa ga Crush volumes, it may wrap up in a couple of years. Yet, the second season of the anime series may not return anytime sooner than 2022 or 2023.
