The concern for Kate is valid, but fret not, folks, as Prince William just gave an update on her cancer fight! The Princess of Wales was seen in Portsmouth with King Charles and Queen Camilla for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Addressing the crowd, the future King got real about the ups and downs they’ve been through during Kate’s health journey. Read further to get the lowdown!
Prince William: “She Would Have Loved to Be Here Today”
Prince William and his family teamed up with British lawmakers and military veterans for the D-Day event. The Reigning Monarch delivered a touching speech, followed by William, who took the stage solo. Additionally, he admitted to feeling “deeply honoured” to speak and shared a snippet from Captain Alastair Bannerman’s diary. It was about a soldier who fought on the beaches of Normandy in 1944.
The Prince of Wales hailed the veterans, “We will always remember those who served and waved them off. Later on, the royals mingled with the veterans, swapping war stories. And that’s when William chatted with a veteran who asked about his wife’s health. The man asked, “I was going to ask you if your wife was getting any better?” To which he replied, “Yes… she would have loved to have been here today.” The future King also brought up how Kate’s grandmother worked at Bletchley.
Prince William stated that Middleton would’ve had much in common with some other ladies there. Her grandmother, Valerie Glassborow, worked at the WWII codebreaking centre, Bletchley Park. Back in 2014, the Princess of Wales visited the facility to immerse herself in the environment where Valerie once worked. Meanwhile, King Charles and Queen Camilla were all emotional when they heard a veteran share his wartime memories. A retired Navy officer, Eric Bateman, spoke about his time on Utah Beach during WWII.
He recalled, “So many men and women, including my dear friend Fred, joined up with me but unfortunately never made it.” The tragic tale reduced the senior royal couple to tears. Despite Middleton’s connection to the event, she couldn’t attend it due to ongoing chemo treatments. Reports indicate that she’ll remain MIA for the rest of the year, possibly working from home. Although Kate has stepped back from the spotlight, she has been working behind the scenes.
She didn’t leave her commitment to the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. Earlier, a Kensington Palace spokesperson revealed that Kate would return to work when doctors gave her the green light. Another source disclosed that the Princess is being very cautious about her health. In the meantime, her team is figuring out what her role will look like when she comes back. It might not be the same as before. Guess we’ll have to wait and find out. Until then, stay glued to TV Season & Spoilers to get the latest scoops on the royal family!
