EastEnders legend reveals more ‘bad’ storylines after being told she’s too nice. Michelle Collins has been a cornerstone character on EastEnders, playing Cindy Beale for years. The much-loved star landed the role of Cindy in 1988 and played it for over a decade. But her time in Walford wasn’t up yet, as she returned to reprise her role in 2023. Michelle literally had everyone in a chokehold when she turned up in France with Ian Beale. But the latest news suggests a tough time for the iconic character. Check out!
EastEnders: Tough Times Ahead for Cindy Beale
Michelle appeared on EastEnders after a whopping twenty-five years of her character being killed off. The BBC One soap viewers just loved the drama Cindy brings to Walford. Moreover, they even warned Michelle that her character is too sweet, demanding darker storylines to really keep them on edge. Collins, being a peach, has vowed to serve their requests.
During her appearance on The One Show, the EastEnders legend promoted her other upcoming projects. These include a film called Stephen, which is about recovery and addiction. Later in the program, the former Corrie actress mentioned another film in the pipeline named Self Storage. The upcoming project follows a story of a woman who lived in a storage unit for nine months during lockdown.
The host asked about Michelle’s return on EastEnders while noting how busy she is. The London-born star replied, “Oh no, I’ve still got my part-time job!” Additionally, she joked about how the soap boss would kill her for spilling beans on everything but EE. Collins clarified about being very much there in our beloved soap. And guess what? Cindy’s tale will shake us all up!
Then, Roman Kemp told her to use ‘worse.’ In addition, the soap veteran confessed to struggling with playing ‘baddie’ roles. Meanwhile, we’ll catch her in Stephen playing the role of a loan shark named Max, who preys on a gambling addict. Collins is happy to tell the story of people dealing with addiction and recovery.
Fan Wants Cindy to Return!
Back on EastEnders, viewers have been dying to have Cindy back but Michelle never saw it happening. She never thought about her return after her character ‘died’ in prison in 1998. Moreover, she pressed on the issue of less screen time and storyline for older women of a certain age. Collins added, “We’ve still got a lot more to give as women and as actors. I’m having some great storylines.”
She also admitted to witnessing ‘huge changes’ since she last worked on the BBC show in the 90s, highlighting the change in the number of cast members and episodes per week. Anyway, the EastEnders fame is happy as she gets to spend more time with her family. “EE is not far from my home now, so I’m home a lot more.” Are you excited for Cindy to take on new adventures on our beloved soap?
