Teen Mom is a popular MTV show that documents the life and struggles of young mothers. This show features several castmates indulging in clashes over small things that ultimately result in estrangement. Dysfunctional relationships are not something new for reality TV stars.
Thus, Thanksgiving was not a wholesome event for some of them as they did not share a love-filled relationship with certain family members. Here is the list of all the Teen Mom stars who did not celebrate Thanksgiving with their family!
Jenelle & Barbara
Jenelle Evans has shared a rocky relationship with her mother, Barbara, for years. Their chaos circles around the custody battle of the Teen Mom 2 alum’s eldest kid, Jace. The grandma had physical and legal custody of him while his mother was given visitation every alternate weekend after the latter gave her son’s custody to her mom in June 2010.
Things took a serious turn between the mother and daughter in January 2021. This was when Jenelle filed an emergency petition for complete custody of her teen boy. She revealed in 2021 that the custody battle made things bitter between them. She even mentioned that their bond is broken beyond the possibility of reconciliation.
Jace recently went back under his grandma’s care after spending merely a few months with his mom. This came after Jenelle’s husband, David, faced arrest for allegedly assaulting the teen.
Kailyn & Suzi
Kailyn Lowry has also cut strings with her mother, Suzi Irwin, and half-sister, Mikaila. She spilled the details about her estrangement during an interactive Instagram Q&A session in 2021. A fan asked her what was the last thing that insisted she part ways with her mother.
The Barely Famous podcast host said that she did so after realizing that in order to grow personally and become a good mom, she would have to “cut off the dead weight.” The same year, Kailyn disclosed in the Baby Mamas No Drama podcast that she had no idea where her mom lived.
She has not even seen her father, Raymond, since 2009. The Teen Mom star shares her half-sister Mikaila Shelburne with him from Texas. The sisters reunited on Teen Mom 2, but Lowry shared in November 2020 that she does not have any contact with her anymore.
This came after her sister admitted being unhappy about how she was portrayed on the show. Kailyn, thus, spent this Thanksgiving away from not one but three of her family members.
Leah & Gary
Leah Messer shares an estranged bond with her father, Gary Lee Miller, who was featured in earlier episodes of Teen Mom 2. He was an addict who had a toxic relationship with his daughter, as the two consumed drugs together.
The mom of three opened up about their estrangement in her book, wherein Leah mentioned that she was giving her daughter the life she always dreamt of. Leah broke all the ties with her father when he was in jail, for he continued choosing his addiction over his life.
Catelynn & April
Catelynn Lowell once hinted at her crooked relationship with her mother, April, via an emotional Instagram post. She added the caption “Damn…” to her last week’s post. Her post stated that she feels the pain of every girl whose mom is not their best friend like they should be.
Teen Mom alum shared that her heart aches for all the girls who could not have a good bond with their mother despite numerous attempts. Catelynn seems to have a void left by her mother’s unavailability in her life.
Farrah & Debra
Teen Mom alum Farrah Abraham has a strained relationship with her mother, Debra Danielsen. Their bitterness is not something new, as their complicated bond was a major storyline during Teen Mom OG. Earlier this year, the latter opened up about their estrangement, admitting that they have not had a conversation since their 2021 feud.
During an interview with a gossip page, she revealed that her daughter does not allow her to connect with her 14-year-old granddaughter, Sophia. Despite the MTC castmate maintaining her distance, Debra hopes to fix things with her.
