Emmerdale star cast Claire King, who is popularly known for her portrayal of Kim Tate on the show, talked about the challenges she faces when working on the show while dealing with an invisible disease. Claire is one of the oldest characters in the soap. She made her comeback in the year 2018. Since then, she’s been in the centre stage of the plot, which can be challenging at times due to her arthritis and tight shooting schedules. Recently, the actress revealed how she deals with her illness while working on the show.
Emmerdale: Claire King Discusses the Difficulties on Show Set
Actress Claire King recently appeared on Lorraine and opened up about her struggles. She discussed how she struggles while shooting on the Emmerdale set. The 61-year-old, in a conversation with host Ranvir Singh, shared that Emmerdale makers try to “keep her out of the village” during the winter. Claire was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 28. Previously, she had termed the disease as an “invisible disease.” The disorder is when your immune system attacks your own body’s tissues. Long hours outside filming only make it worse, so this may be one of Claire’s last major outdoor scenes.
When Claire was asked by the host, Ranvir, if filming the outdoors is hard on her, she replied, “Yes, I mean they’re very good at work, the producers. And they try to keep me out of the village as much as possible in winter. She revealed that she would like to stay out of the village from October to March, but she doesn’t function that way. The Emmerdale cast shared that she has metal joints and pins in her hands. Informing arthritis gets worse in the winter, Claire said, “It’s the cold damp that gets me.”
“It Was Difficult To Shoot Craig’s Murder Scenes”
It is heartbreaking that there are times when Claire faces difficulties in doing the things she loves. She said, “I struggled to go to work and do the things I love, like horse riding, because of the terrible pressure it put on my knees. I can certainly relate to the ‘invisible disease’ – although my symptoms don’t always show, it doesn’t mean I’m not in pain or feeling exhausted.”
Craig also revealed that her character, Kim Tate, is the one who killed Craig Reed (Ben Addis). She confirmed, “There’s going to be repercussions,” but she’s hoping Kim doesn’t go to prison.” The cast hinted that initially, Sam Dingle (James Hooton) will be at the gunpoint, but time will reveal the storyline. Then, Claire detailed how challenging it was to film the murder scenes of Craig because they were shot in an outdoor setting and involved riding a horse. Also, her health was always a priority throughout the shooting.
We really appreciate and thank Claire for continuing to deliver outstanding performances despite constant problems with her health. With all the hints that Claire teased, it seems like Craig’s murder case is far from over. So, stay tuned to the TV Season & Spoilers for more Emmerdale updates!
