For several months now, Lola has been battling a brain-tumor, but it looks like the disease will get the better of her in the end. In June 2022, after Danielle Harold received the shocking news of her impending exit, The Sun claimed that she burst into tears. Apparently, the soap’s executive producer, Chris Clenshaw, wanted to restructure EastEnders. Thus, it was finalised that Lola’s emotional passing will mark the end of her journey on the soap. Later, at the British Soap Awards, the fine actress addressed her exit by saying she cannot wait to start something new. However, she did insist that EastEnders has and will remain a huge part of her life.
Furthermore, Danielle added that she wants to try a different character now, and explore all the new possibilities. She even expressed her explicit interest in returning to films, and dramas that have a start-middle- and an end. Speaking about her exit story on EastEnders, Danielle shared that she worked alongside Macmillan Cancer Support and Brain Tumour Research to ensure the storyline is sensitively handled. She also expressed her gratitude to all the families that shared their experience with her. Moreover, Danielle asserted that she could not have performed the storyline without their support.
Lola’s Passing Will Be A Tear-Jerker On EastEnders
In the upcoming episodes, Lola will suffer another seizure. This will mark the beginning of her inching towards the end of her life on EastEnders. The realisation will hit her loved ones really hard, however, they will try to put a brave face for her sake. Lola’s friends, Denise Branning and Kim Fox will pay her a visit and try to cheer her up.
