EastEnders Readers keeping up with TV Season & Spoilers would recall we recently reported that actor Neil McDermott is returning to the soap opera in the coming month. He will reprise his role as Ryan and become a part of Lily’s storyline. Let us remind you that Ryan is Lily’s biological father. He was last seen on the soap back in 2016, and ever since the Lily pregnancy storyline rolled out, fans wished Ryan would return and get involved in the mix. Thankfully so, the writers had something similar going on in their minds, and now as desired, Ryan is returning.
In the current EastEnders scenario, Ryan is living in Wakefield with his wife, Helen. However, now, he will return to Walford East for this specific storyline. It is a short stint, but that does not mean it won’t bring too much drama. Speaking about his return to the soap, the actor said that when he heard the storyline, he was rather pleased. He was happy that the stars aligned, and he was able to get back to the square. It was lovely when he got to see his old friends. The actor continued to talk about how much fun he had working with Shona and Lacey again.
Further, the Executive producer of the show, Chris Clenshaw, is very excited about Ryan’s character return too. He said that while viewers haven’t seen Ryan for some years, that doesn’t mean that he is out of the storylines too. Given the history that all of these characters share, their storylines and intertwined, and it will be fun to see Ryan returning and making his way through the whole situation.
