However, the famed actress revealed in a Facebook Live session, that she is working on bringing back the mega-popular soap, Santa Barbara, back to life on an online streaming platform! Does that mean she won’t have any time for General Hospital? Are we about to see Nancy exit GH? Keep reading to find out!
Nancy Lee Grahn Revives Santa Barbara for Online Streaming Platform!
Nancy has been Alexis in General Hospital for as long as we can remember! However, before donning her GH lawyer role, Nancy spent nine years playing a lawyer in Santa Barbara. In a recent Facebook live session, the talented actress shared that the popular soap Santa Barbara was a fantastic experience for her. Initially, she intended to stay on the soap for only a year, two tops. But her experience was so good that she ended up staying for nine long years! Right till the soap was canceled in 1993.
Even after 30 years since it was canceled, the soap is so close to Nancy’s heart that she wants to bring her back on the online streaming platform Hulu. “I have the writer, I have the producer, I have a lot of the actors.” It would make a lot of sense, she thinks, pointing at how well Days of Our Lives is doing on Peacock! “It found a home.” Nancy said it keeps the actors and the crew members employed.
The General Hospital actress shared that she isn’t the only one who thinks Santa Barbara would do well on Hulu. Many of the show’s actors, like, Harley Jane Kozak, Joe Marinelli, and Leigh J. McCloskey, amongst others too, were in agreement with Nancy’s sentiment when she approached them with her idea of reviving the much-famed soap from yesteryears. Interestingly, Santa Barbara too aired on NBC just as Days of Our Lives did before moving to Peacock.
Is Nancy Lee Grahn Leaving General Hospital To Move To Santa Barbara?
The General Hospital star shared that unlike Days of Our Lives, Santa Barbara has not been on the air for 30 years. So the move would not be as smooth as it was for DOOL. She initially planned a 10-episode shoot to test the waters. However, her plan hit a roadblock when she realized that she needed the soap to air not just in US but internationally. And Hulu isn’t an international streaming platform. “I don’t know that Disney+ is either. I’m limited to go to those places because 20th Century Fox has the rights to Santa Barbara.” She added.
The actress stated that if Santa Barbara doesn’t air internationally, then, she is not sure if anyone would be interested in picking it. Having said that, she assured she is still working on the project to find a way. This also means, she won’t be leaving General Hospital in favor of Santa Barbara anytime soon! So fans need not worry, we will still get to see Nancy as the spunky lawyer Alexis we all love so much! So stay tuned to ABC over weekdays to find out if she gets in any trouble with the Hook Killer!
